Is anyone familiar with...

    yes..there is a currrent recall for the bolts out of most of these guns....no repair...send the bolt to sears and they send you $160.00 check..the reason they say is due to the bolt screw being defective and that the bolt may slip back into your face upon firing the gun...if you decide to send it in..you will have a dead horse left over....i forgot tx number for sears to order your return kit...mabey somebody else can help you with that....sears sold alot of the J C Higgins guns...loved mine..12 ga. bolt action..my first gun ever

    Thanks for the information, even if I wasn't the one that asked. I have one of these (haven't used for 20+ years)and I guess I better check it out. Always good to hear this type information.

    The recall number I have is 1-800-817-9165, that should connect you with someone about the recall.
