KaBoom with the M1A
I just read about the KaBoom with the M1A, Does anyone know about any problems with the Stainless Steel barrels on the M1A's???? Is the SS BBL, BETTER????? Stronger??? SAFER?????????

that barrel was defective,..your chances of that happening while using the correct ammunition are minimal.
There was also no reason to suspect that barrel or to have it inspected,..therefore the problem wasn't found until it failed. Buy your barrel from a reputable barrel maker,...and go shoot.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

bobski, read the whole article. Metallurgical analysis of the barrel suggested bad steel in the barrel.

And, the barrel was unmarked; i.e., the manufacturers name was not stamped on it. So, there's no way to know where it came from (China?).
Any M14 USGI barrel, or one made by a US manufacturer with enough pride to put his name on his product, should be completely safe.

Thanks for the info, BUT! I asked about a Stainless Steel barrel, I have 2 SA M1A's And wanted to know if anyone knows about problems with the SS BBL.
