Nice rifle (Howa I think is making the action for the least expensive Weatherby ). Pretty good deal, I don't personally know how they shoot (even tho I own one. Gotta get to the range!). They did however have a recall on the bolt only. You contact Howa (smith & wesson), they send a padded packing to return the bolt, postage paid by them, and Presto, your improved bolt comes back in a couple weeks. I think it was a safety recall, as in, if you drop a loaded rifle off a 50 foot cliff, onto concrete, it might go off.

I've had a S&W 1500 in .30-06 since the early '80s, and a Dickson-Howa (same thing) since the late '70s. Great rifles, no problems. The Simmons scope isn't the greatest, but is O.K.; and I think the asking price is fair.

    I owned a S&W 1500 in 300 win. mag.It would put 3 shots under an inch at 100 yds.with factory remington ammo.Wish i had never sold it.

I Had a Howa. It was a good solid gun, never had a problem with it. Price seems fair to me. Figure the scope used is worth about 20-25 dollars, so your paying about 275-280 for the gun. Not a bad price for a decent bolt action.

I have a Howa action on a Boyd's stock. fine rifle with some nice characteristics in its design. Put a decent scope on it and it should make a very nice hunting rifle.

My heros have always killed cowboys.

Ya I know, my dad called the guy at the shop and told him about this, the bolt is there now getting fixed so when it comes back, I'll be ready to buy it.
