Help with HK 911
I'm new to firearms collecting and I need some help. I have an HK 911 in excellent condition. What's the story on these guns and what are they worth? Thank you for your help.

After the Bush (Pappa Bush) assault weapons ban prohibited the importation of the HK-91 (and other militaty style HK products) the company, like everyone else, looked for a ban beater. The best known is the SAR-9 series which used a kevlar reinforced thumbhole stock, a longer polygonal barrel, an a different buffer system. Your 911 model used a plain balck plastic thimbhole stock, a standard grade barrel and a typical buffer. Fewer than 1000 of these rifles were imported and they have the "advantage" of accepting all of the typical HK-91 accessoris, some of which won't fit the SAR series-- at least not without a struggle. Although rarer than an HK-91, the 911 does not match its older brother as far as price is concerned since it is a post ban rifle without the typical military features. 911 prices are usually running about 20% or so under the value of an identical condition HK-91. One small group of buyers who really appreciated the 911 were those of us in California who had the sale of HK-91 banned in this state in 1989 but NOT the HK-911 due to its differing model designation. Altough this "oversight" has since been corrected with a new AW law, there continue to be large number of 911's in the Golden State. Some registered sear owners will also choose a 911 to use as a host gun for their machinegun conversion since these rifles are less costly than an HK-91 and can be just as easily converted. Actually the HK-911 is quite rare here in my little corner of the mid-west. The 91, 93, 94 and SP89 are fairly common and to see an SR9 isn't uncommon but I've not seen more than 3-4 of the 911's in the last 10 years or so ... possibly because we weren't under the influence of California laws[?] ... thank goodness!
