Browning BLR Accuracy
I've owned two and shot 3 Browning Blr rifles, though the trigger was different I found all of them to be accurate. What do you think about the BLR accuracy wise?

I've owned maybe a dozen different models of BLR's going back to the 1969 Belgium vintage, in several different calibers-right up through the recent Lightning model.
I had a 1969 243 cal. that I could guarantee was going to shoot 2" at 100 yds everytime.
I had a Lightning 223 that I could almost guarantee would shoot 2 "Feet" at 100 yards everytime.
Not quite that bad, but it was so "picky" on type of ammo that I decided it need to take a trip.
Guns vary, ammo varies and as for the shooter himself-That Too Varies!0 -
I bought mine new in '94. It is a 22-250.
At first I was dissapointed in the accuracy and then I changed scopes. Made a whole new rifle with the new scope. I have never shot and measured my groups but my sight in range was 200 yards with a 2 inch metal swinging target. I can hit it EVERY time.
I had it sighted in at 350 yards once. Me and my brother were shooting at pieces of hard pizza (true) hanging from a barb wire fence. Not real precise measuring but I was hitting them in the center.
Plenty accurate for me.
I see they changed back to the straight stock this year. That was a good move the curved ones are ugly.
My only complaint is the lever is to small to allow gloved hands to fit it.

I have three of these and all are accurate . we shoot plastic spoons at 50 to 75 yards. cant say I hit every time but I do hit more than I miss . At this range all of my blrs stay at 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. I love mine. [:D]

Here's my sad story on BLR's. About 1988 or 89 I helped my cousin decide on a deer rifle. I was in pretty good with a dealer and had an inside connection with a dist. and suggested a BLR .257 Robt. the dist. had one and made me a great deal on a trade. I did the dealing and he got the rifle. It shot great, and I've alway wanted one but have only seen 1 other 257 in person. I later traded off my 7mm 08 and regretted that as well. Now, I see the 7mm 08 in th 81 configuration is back, I can only hope the .257 returns as well. I think on the distributor level only a few 257's trickled in here and there. I'd buy a new 257 in a heartbeat and think others would too. Unfortuneatly the short mag craze is in full force. 0 -
I had a .284 about 10 yrs. ago .Like a dummy I sold it.

Yes, the 284 was another that I passed on because I was in college and funds were scarce, I would have like a fool probably have traded off. These were scarce as well, maybe we should contact Browning and demand the .257 and .284 in BLR. I bet more of these would sell than them short mags[:D] 0 -
Some of us picked one up in .223 to give to a rancher who let a bunch of us hunt. Got it dirt cheap at $200.00. He carries it in his scabbord on his horse.
They don't make them in .223 anymore.

I would also like to step in and say that I am a very satisfied fan of the BLR. I have owned a model 81 in .257roberts for several years and wanted one in 7mm08, but was unable to find a model 81. Yesterday I was in Benton Shooters Supply (TN) and found a new model BLR model 81 with the straight stock. They had three in stock & guess what? , one was a 7mm08. Today it is resting comfortably in my safe here in NC. Looking forward to shooting it in this weekend 0 -
I have one in 308 and the first 2 shots at 100 yards will go in to the same hole, the 3rd shot will go 1" higher. I dont care it's a hunting gun, first shot MEAT, second shot MAYBE,third shot ****. I think it's a great rifle, could use some trigger work. 0
