Cetme, AK-47, 75 rd. drums???

3 topics for ya....
1.) Is the Cetme (.308) a good quality rifle for some fun? I found a package deal of a new Cetme with a synthetic furniture set, (1) 5 rd. mag and (4) 20 rd. mags. plus pouches ect. for roughly $340. Good deal? no? opinions?
2.) I currently own a Romanian AK Sar-1. It is in great shape, just like how i bought it except for the fact that i refinished the stock so it didn't repulse me. It has been sanded, stained, and varnished to have a nice golden finish that shows off the grain of the wood. I would like to upgrade. What are your opinions on the Bulgarian Ak-47's out there right now with the synthetic stocks and milled receivers? If I upgrade I would sell my romanian with the 5 round mag and 2 of the 30 rounders. (what could i expect for it?) (roughly 3000 round have been put through it)
3.) lastly...I would like to maybe purchase a 75 round drum for the new AK. I used to have a wind up one that didn't impress me at all and i sold it. are the top loaders better quality?

I bought a Century CETME about 3/4 mo. ago , same package you described for $319, took about 60rds to get it to cycle all the time, now have about 300rds thru it, runs good. Some others have had problems.
I have got 3 stamped & 3 milled AK's in the safe, here is what I have learned. 1 Bulgie milled krink, 1 Madi stamped krink, 1 AK-74, 1 Polytech milled side folder, 1 Nornico underfolder, 1 Polytech double folder.
An AK is an AK, milled or stamped, they run and perform the same.
A used SAR1 with 3 30rd mags retail worth about $350.

The top loading AK47 drums are Russian vs the China windup's. The Russian is a itch to load, and jams up as good as the China windups.

and be happy. If you really still want a Bulgarian, there is no reason you shouldn't have 2 AKs!
I looked into the Century Cetme and have decided that I would rather have a PTR-91 $800ea. Check out:

I own a .308 Cetme and as it was mentioned above, some of them have problems cycling ammo. What Iv'e found is that NATO .308 ( 7.62 X 51 ) ammo works much better than regular .308. This seems to cure the problem, but sometimes it will take a few rounds before it works. Gunshows usually have it in 200 rd. battle packs. Just make sure it has the NATO stamp on it, either on the pack itself or stamped of the bottom of the shell casing, or on both. A far as price goe's, thats about the same price Iv'e seen them for. If your sure you want a .308 military rifle, you might want to also consider a L1A1. They seem to have less problems, but are a little more expensive. Now to the ak47. I have a Mac 90 w/a stamped receiver that is my probably one of my favorite guns. I have a 75 rd. drum and a 100 rd. drum which are both made in China. Never had a single problem with either of them. I can empty the whole drum in each of them without any hesitation. I can do this only because someone finally showed me the right way to load it. If you don't get the inner carousel lined-up just right before you load it, it will fire off the first outer row of ammo o.k., but will stop when it gets to second or third row. Make sure you wind it tight enough, but not to tight. I wind my 75 rd. about 4 times and my 100 rd. about 6 times. I bought mine used and they didn't come with directions, so I had to experiment to find out what worked best. I hoped Iv'e helped you! Bubba 0
