French MAS 39 .308 nato any good?

French MAS 39 .308 nato any good? Seen a few around, but don't know how good the rifle is. I've heard they are rebored from the French 7.5 round and have a safty added.

  Well first off, there is the MAS 36 which is bolt action (and a few variants) and the MAS 49 semi auto. Both have been rechambered to .308 in recent years using cheap chamber inserts. Jams are supposedly a major problem; I have no first hand experience as all of mine are in 7.5 French yet. Probably the semi would give more trouble than the bolt action with this conversion. I'd stay away from any conversion that just uses a chamber insert anyhow. Still, if you try it and it gives problems, get a broken shell extractor, yank out the insert, and shoot in 7.5 french w/ no trouble.
