WWII OSS Stinger

I am interested in determining the true value of a deactivated WWII OSS Stinger. Thanks.

    Welll I can tell you that a near perfect Liberator .45 goes for around $1500. I wouldn't expect a Stinger to go for more than that. Beach

    Probably not the best comparison.

    How many Liberators were made? How many Stingers were made? (And of course, how many are still existing today?) Price is determined by supply and demand.

    Competentone....yeah you are probably right on that one. Liberators have always been fairly desirable and hard to find. I really don't know what the rarity factor of the Stinger is...Liberators are in short supply and high DEMAND and thus the $1500 price. I was trying to give him at least a starting point from which to operate. It may very well be that the Stinger is a $10,000 weapon. I just didn't want to see him selling it to somebody for a $100. Beach

    But weren't the Liberators produced by the hundreds of thousands? How many Stingers were made? perhaps a few thousand??

    Of course, what exists today and is available for sale and what is desired determines the value. Note: With WW2 vets dieing-off there is probably going to be an increase in supply of many WW2 firearms/collectables as items in estates are sold off.

    I did a quick (exact phrase match) for "OSS Stinger" on Yahoo--only a few matches--most just seem to be referencing books.

    Are you interested in selling it, or just determining a value? You can list it in the auction without any fees; have a starting bid with what you'd take for it. See what it is bid to. That would be one way of determining a value.

    I'm also not sure what you mean by "It has been deactivated, apparently fired long ago, and is non-reloadable..."? My only knowledge of these is from a segment on some TV program years back; that one was reloadable.

    Well good luck selling it or keeping it.
    Competentone..again you are right, if there were only a few thousand of those Stingers made and given the fact that they were throwaway weapons chances are good that their rarity is through the roof. I know that right now there is a beautiful Liberator from a classic military collection in California up for private sale for $1500. I was ready to buy it because of its rarity but three kids in private school has made me only an admirer from a distance. Beach
