bayonet lug cover
I have to carry an ar-15 at work, slug over my left shoulder muzzle pointing down. The sharp edges on that blasted bayonet lug cut holes in my uniform pants. I'm looking for something that will slide over or snap onto, the lug, to prevent this from happening. Now I know some of you will suggest I change the way I carry it or grind the lug off. I like the method of carry I've chosen and don't want to change, and since the plant owns the rifles, I don't think they'd be to happy with me if I start altering them. So my only real option is some kind of cover. Any CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions? Thanks.

Not trying to be a smarta$$,but until a better solution
is found, how about wrapping it with duct tape (black?)

I don't know if the still make them but the original AR's had a rubber cap that fit over the FH. If you can find one, maybe it'd fit. 0 -
How about a bayonet? Or if not, grind the blade off and just leave the ring and such. It will cover the problem and is removable.

I'd go with Bobby, but try some black electrical tape.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been away for a couple days so I could'nt respond.
I'd thought of the tape idea but I don't carry the same rifle every day, so I'd have to tape up it up all the time. What I'm looking for is something that would snap in place and could be removed at the end of the day.
As for the bayonet idea, I don't think my employer would find it to good an idea and I'd probably just hurt myself anyway[;)]. However, I had thought of buying a bayonet and cutting the end off, but I'm unwilling to spend 30-40 dollers on one to just ruin it.

How about a rubber grommet like you would normally use to protect wiring where it passes through a bulkhead or firewall?? They are available in a wide array of shapes and sizes and I bet you could come up with one that would work.
