Any reason this shouldn't work? (handloading)
I have a Lee Loader for .303 Brit- the old affair where you whack the thing through with a hammer. It neck sizes only. Any reason I couldn't use it for 7.7 Jap, given they are the same length, take the same diameter bullet, and are overall almost identical except for rim? 'Course, I can just TRY it and see but figured I'd ask first.

jonk, sounds reasonable to me, but be sure that you don't move the shoulder back on the Jap case--that would increase headspace as you probably have already considered. Just start with moderate loads and see how things work out. I've done some REALLY dumb things with a 7.7 Jap. with no problems.

Shoulder Dia. on the 7.7 is .029 larger then the 303, Base Dia. is .472 on the 7.7 versus .458 on the 303.
Seems like your going to have to get hold of about a 8 lb sledge hammer to drive that 7.7 case into a 303 Lee Loader.0 -
I do the same thing with 6mm rem, I am too cheap to buy a set of dies so I use my 243 dies and neck size only. The only thing I can think of it with the lee loader you have no way to adjust how far the shell goes into the sizer, headspace may be an issue So I would only beat the sizer part way down the neck. Did you know you can load 38 specials in 9mm dies???????? Just bought a 38, didn't have dies, had 9's guess what they worked.

Forgot those kind of Lee Loaders only neck-size brass. The Shoulder and Base diameters of the 7.7 brass, probably won't make any difference?0 -

Yes... which is why I asked here before trying. Though seriously considering that the Jap Arisaka is the strongest military action of all time, I really doubt that I could do anything stupid enough to hurt the gun or myself, not that I'm going to try.
Well, consider this. If it don't move the shoulder back any, doesn't reduce body size... then it isn't dangerous, is it? I'll mic it before loading to make sure but I'm guessing it might work, will post results.

I tried putting one through the loader this morning. It doesn't work, case body is too big.
