Trigger Creep in a Sig?

I have a fairly new Sig 229 in .40 S&W. It shoots great and punches some really accurate holes. It feeds every time and never jams. My question is this; There seems to be a lot of creep or travel, pulling the trigger, before it fires. Is this normal? Can anything be done to take up a little of the slack? I'm not talking about a huge change but a little less creep or travel would be nice.

  any competent gunsmith can eliminate the creep.

  I've got a Sig P229 also in .40S&W. I've had it for 2 years and recently added some parts to enhance it. The trigger creep did bother me a little so I added the Sigarms short trigger(this part will take shorten & lighten your trigger pull). You can purchase one from the Sigarms factory. I then added a Hogue wraparound grip. After I enhanced it, I did notice it was a tad more accurate and enjoyable. Hope this helps![8D]

  You bet it helps and helps a lot. I can't believe the groups this pistol shoots at 15 meters already so I can only imagine what it will do with your modifications. Thanks!

  Many of the newer SIGs don't seem to have the same smooth trigger characteristics as older models. I don't know if it is a matter of fit or different springs--it just is. Even so, they do tend to wear in as you shoot them with or without any trigger work.

  The SIG short trigger only shortens the reach from the backstrap to the trigger face. In fact, a standard trigger can be modified into a short trigger by removing material from the front with a round stone.
  IIt may feel like the pull is shorter due to a different amount of finger engaging the trigger, but the actual amount of travel is the same. Since this is a drop-in part it may also effect the smoothness of the pull, for bad or worse.
  
  Removing the built in amount of creep you have will take the services of a pistolsmith.
