You got a deal! Top quality shotgun, made by Howa, probably dates from the late 70's or early 80's. S & W closed out their Japanese long guns in the mid 80's for some reason? Couldn't figure out why? Never heard anything but good about them. 0 -
I second Rufe when he said good deal! I had a Smitty scattergun and reaally regret selling her! She was one of the best b!@#$%s I ever had! Well, at least I know that it's in good hands.Sad huh?[:(]

s&w had a deal with howa of japan, to make their shotguns. they were great guns. s&w trimmed their gun lineup. they saw that the shotgun market was sewn up and they would never be able to compete with the 'big green' and winchester. they decided to stick with strickly handguns. they sold all their shotgun programs to mossberg. your gun is well built and will function just fine. enjoy!
