98 carbine receiver question

If a true K-98, the barrel should have a 1.100 barrel shake diameter. If by carbine you are referring to a short barreled Mauser of large ring 98 origin, it will have the same barrel shank. As a caution, There are several Turk "large ring" 98 Mausers running sround with at least two different barrel shanks, neither of which are standard to the "normal" large ring 98. Your best bet if planning a rebarrel is to remove the barrel and measure. That is the only way to be safe, besides if the 308 barrel you refer to is in use, it will most likely require the shoulder/shank be setback and the gun finish reamed to assure proper headspace. Sounds like a job for a gunsmith.
