Springfield P9 value
I have a NIB Springfield P9,black,chrome trigger, barrel and FLGR, unported and not the longslide version. What should this pistol sell for with two 16 round mags.
My brother wants to trade a very nice Ruger 77 MKI in .308 heavy barrel varminter for it, would this be a fair trade? Thanks

Their value varies, but since they are basically an EAA Witness with a Springfield name stamped on the side, they tend to sell in the same range. The Blue Book shows them to be higher, but like with many things, the Blue Book is not always correct. The average value will be in the $300-370 range. In some areas it will be higher and in others it will be lower than that.
They are good guns, but since they didn't come in for that long of a time period, many are unfamiliar with them. However since they are simply a Witness imported by Springfield rather than EAA, most people will recognize them for being just that. Springfield dressed them up a bit nicer and charged more for them at the time, but soon people realized they were paying over $100 more for the same gun as they could buy an EAA for and stopped buying the Springfield. Springfield discontinued the production of the P9 in 1993 after only 2+ years. They had began importation (of the parts) in late 1990, early 1991. The guns were assembled here in the US from parts obtained from the Tanfoglio plant in Italy where the Witness is made. The advantage to that is of course EAA Witness parts, mags, etc., will fit the P9 and there are a lot of options out there for the Witness.0
