"unusual" stock on mini 14
Hey all...
I was just looking around and saw this ad:
http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=11158896
The one ad for a mini-14 I saw that had a number of bids on it. The ad says it has an "unusual" stock, which I guess it does. However, that is the same model I bought a number of years ago. Just curious, what exactly is the deal with that stock? What is it called? Who made it and why? Wondering what the story is...
I just thought it looked cool and seemed a high quality piece.
Thanks in advance,
jocko

Ruger comissioned several of these stocks to be made for there SS mini 14's. After the first run they stoped. They did this for the 10-22 as well.

I believe that was mainly a Wal-Mart special, limited run.

WalMart, huh? How exotic... It is a rather nice stock, though.

I think your right, William81.
Kinda like my 10/22 international w/laminated stock.
IT'S WHAT PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THEMSELVES THAT MAKES THEM AFRAID.0 -
I saw these type of stocks a few years ago on the mini 14's at Gander Mountain, so it might of been a special custom version made just for them. Hope this helps you out! Bubba 0 -
I have one of these guns exactly like that.Bought it knew back in 96 .I hope it like the factory folders will increase in value as they no longer make them.
Just because it came from walmart does'nt mean it won't be a collectors item. Remember the Colt single action army at SEARS .I seen on the history channel it sold for over 1,000,000 .SEARS could,nt get $50 for it back in the 50's
IT"S better to die by fire then serve by force
It's not gun control. It's personal defence elemanation. They only want to control ours.0 -
Two gun is on the mark....I did not mean it was a knock off or not as good as any other mini because it came from Wal-Mart. They seem to have some collector interest, but time will tell.

These stocks first came out around 1994. Ruger release a a GB model with this stock in a commemrerative edition for the California Department of Corrections. Like a fool--I was working as a C/O and did not order one. Big mistake. They were being sold to us for 500.00. Still kicking myself. 0
