What you probably have is a "FN-CARABINE". This was a single shot, bolt-action .22 Rifle made by "Fabrique Nationale d'Armes de Guerre" in Liege Belgium, for many years. Circa late 19th Century to the 1930's.
I don't know where your posting from?, but there not common on this side of the pond.0 -
Well I live in canada, do you have any idea what the value is? 0 -
POST the french Writing for us...also submit a discription of this gun...Complete and total...every Mark. Letter and Number and Where Posted..Discribe the Proof Marks...if its European there will be Proof Marks..Is this a Rifle or Pistol? Bolt Action or Drop Breech or could it be a Lift Breech Block? A Picture is Worth a 1000 words...You could have an Old FLOBERT perhaps...hmmmmm? Does it have a Fancy Trigger Guard???? I/We await your pleasure........Best........

On the top of the barrel it says: fabrique nationale d'arms de guerre s.a. herstal belgique. In front of the bolt it has a logo of some sort, don't really know what it is it looks like a circle with a backwards j on it and a f and c with a line across them. On the side of the barrel it has a serial number which is 323** under the stock by the rear site there are the following markings r*c Then a picture of a arrow pointing to .22l then the proof mark maybe? Its a circle with a crown on top with ELC in it. I wish I could post a picture of it but I don't have a digital camera, but may be able to get one. It is a rifle with a bolt No it doesn't have a fancy trigger gaurd. I have heard of s.a. herstal some were before but can't put my finger on it... 0 -
Herstal Belgium is a suburb of Liege. It's where the F N Arms Factory was located.
The "s. a." before the word Herstal is the French acronym for the English word "Company"0 -
thanks form the reply rufe-snow, But I hope someone will help me on the value. 0 -
Your FN .22 Bolt Action Rifle is virtually unknown in the U S. Doubt if it was ever sold here commercially.
Because of this, if it was in ORIGINAL EXCELLENT CONDITION, I'm sure both .22 rifle collectors and FN arms collectors would be interested in it.
Unfortunately as your a resident of Canada the sale/transfer of the rifle to the US would probably cause more problems then it's worth.0 -
Yes it is original and in great shape! But like you said it would be more problems trying to transfer it out. But I woud like to know rough estimate to insure it. 0
