Can anyone fill me in on the pro's and con's of this auto shotgun?
What should I watch out for in considering this shotgun, worn out friction rings no longer available, weak connecting rod, or ......?
Thanks for your input.
You can never have too many guns!!!0 -
Opinion only...
S&W makes fine pistols, but that doesn't translate to scatterguns.
Mossberg makes fine low-prices shotguns. See where this is going?

s&w made some of the finest shotguns ever. highly prized by top pro's in skeet and trap varieties. they were too expensive to build and s&w voted out long guns and sold all the remaining inventory to mossberg, who continued selling them as mossberg 1000's. very collectable guns. the s&w 1000s was the first retail gun to offer the tula choke standard on a skeet or trap gun. 12 ga gun with a (10ga muzzle.) 20 ga gun with a (12ga muzzle.) main weak point of the gun was the o-ring gas system. otherwise, fine built guns with great wood. the field grade deserves more attention. it was the only 'mossberg' shotgun with hand cut checking!

Neither S&W or Mossberg made these guns. They were made in Japan by Howa.I have a 12ga. pump mod. 3000 with two barrels 22" slug with sights and a 26" vent rib both with improved cylinder choke.

THE ONLT TROUBLE I'VE SEEN WITH THE M-1000 IS THE RUBBER BUFFER INSIDE THE MAGAZINE TUBE/GAS SYSTEM WILL TURN TO GOO AFTER A NUMBER OF YEARS. 0 -
made/make...meaning 'made available to the public for sale.' yes, they were howa imports. thus they had the best wood in the world. japan imports only the best american wood for their guns, builds them, and sells them back to the usa. there is a replacement ring for those guns offered by the old standby gunparts. the goo was and still is the weakest link to the gun.[:I] 0
