How do you release the bolt on a Remington 541S?

  Patrick, To release the bolt on a 541-S, push the safety all the way forward and hold it there while pulling the bolt back. To replace, hold the safety all the way forward and slide the bolt back in place. Hope this helps! GHD

  Thanks a lot groundhog. It works. One of the great advantages of the mauser action is that there is no doubt about where the bolt release is and how it works. Sonme guns designers seem to think this thing will never need maintenance repair.
