What's the difference between walnut and corncob media.

  It has been my experience that walnut shell gets stuck in the primer pocket more but cleans quicker and better. If you use only your own cases to clean, use corncob. If you buy or pick up someone's cases (or surplus), use walnut.

  walnut is more abrasive.i use it on the initial cleaning,then follow up w/ corncob.i usually treat the corncob.other folks may do it differently.

  I find walnut to work just fine especially given how dirty some powders can be. I don't find it to be noticeably abrasive or people wouldn't use it: chances are good your brass will be cleaner sooner, which will save time and electricity.
