My best advice to you would be to pickup a copy of the latest bluebook of gun values or visit them on the web at www.bluebookinc.com because of the fact that many WWII P38 pistols exist. What also might be helpful is that there are date codes on P38 pistols,i.e.: ac 40,ac 41,byf..etc...the bluebook explains this thoroughly. Your P38 also may have an escalated value because it has a known history & sentimental value.Good Luck!

Gunner is corect, there's about 30 or so variations of wartime P-38. The following must be known to give a reasonable estimate. Date and manufacture, these will be on the left side of the slide, ie 480, ac, byf, cyq, svw with a two digit number. The Standard Catalog of Military Weapons goes into a greater detail as to the different variations than most any gun value book including
    Bluebook. Good luck
