Kimel AP-9 stoppages
A few years ago a friend who owns a range gave me a few weapons for free. One was a Kimel AP-9 which I test fired. I experienced stoppages every two to three shots. The usual scenario was jamming(stovepiping & double feeding). I tried a few corrective measures such as cleaning,experimenting with different ammo,trying different mags,& checking the extractor. I know this pistol is notorious for malfunctioning and is currently out of production(banned). I'd still like to repair it and keep it.(even though it stinks!!) Any info appreciated![8D]

You might do a forum search for topics re: the TEC-9 or AP-9, there are varying issues depending on when it was manufactured I guess. I would suspect feed ramp problems and reaming marks in the chamber preventing the extraction of the cartridge. Pull it apart and inspect the main components thoroughly. Check the bolt face edge that fits around the back of the cartridge, it may need to be chamfered slightly to allow easy engagement of the bolt and extractor to the cannelure on the cartridge. Check the feed angle into the chamber to make sure that the cartridge isn't feeding at too steep of angle. Also check the magazine to ensure the lips aren't allowing the cartridges to feed high/low. The mag catch may also be out of spec well. If you have any questions feel free to drop me an e-mail. HTH
