Need gun info on an old side by side

I have an old side by side bought back in the late 40's All numbers match, The name Brevette' ( Mode'le S.G.D.G.) this is above the name . Other markings on barrel (Acier meteor), both barrels are full, 2 triggers. Gun is in very good shape. Any help would be great.

  tried to find some thing on it in a couple of different books came up empty handed, sorry ! maybe some one else will have better luck,, those older hardware guns can be hard to find info on them some times

  I went trhough my "Private Label" and cross reference list and came up empty. Not even Crescent Firearms had anything with the name of this shotgun.
  
  On the internet the closest information I could come up with was about a Belgian percussion revolver.
  
  I suspect your shotgun may be a Belgian or French make, possibly from a small family owned firm that is no longer doing business.
  
  I own a very nice Spanish sidelock shotgun that I can find no information on. I only know that the gun proof marks were registered to a family in Spain. It appears Europe had numerous family owned gun businesses at one time.

  French or Belgian depending on the proofs. Nitro steel tubes( Acier = Steel / Meteor is just a name).
  
  Could well be a fairly nice gun depending on the quality of workmanship.

  I suspect it's French or Belguim....The reason being the Word Brevette and the letters S.G.D.G....I can't find my list of'LETTERS' this is the Group or Consorium that made guns for export, [Societie G.D.G...]?..I've pulled up the Name METEOR from my database...It shows that Stevens Arms made a Rifle that was called the METEOR....also that Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, Mo. used the name on several Models of Guns that it sold in Late 1800's and Early 1900's thru mail Order and retail outlets...To be able to be sure of the Country of origin I'll need the Proof marks from under the barrels...If there is the Oval with the letters E over LG in the center...then its for sure Belguim...There's at least half a dozen different Proofs for the French...so it will be easier for you to submit the proof to the Forum for inspection...I/We await your pleasure........
