How rare or desirable is the 348 Winchester? I know very little about this round. Thanks. John

  What is a 348 Winchester model 71 lever action worth. It is in fair shape

  It's a Model 71. Was it one of the ones made between 1935 and 1957 or one of the newer versions? Or is it one of the Browning made versions?

  I was told it was an older one. A friend of mine bought it and a semiauto shot gun for $500 for both and seen in a paper that a guy was looking to buy one. I was trying to get a ruff Idea how much it is worth. I will try to get a look at it.

  Hey tcd- When you look at that 71, measure the bbl and note if the stock is checkered. They made a standard and deluxe model, as well as a carbine.

  Well if it hasn't been mucked up with scope mounts and the like figure a minimum of $500 and up to about $900. Remember it's an update of the old 1886 Winchester and even though the cartridge is considered obsolescent now it will still kick the heck out of any deer known to mortal man. I saw one a few months ago with about five boxes of ammo and in say 90% condition go for $750 and I think the buyer got one great deal. I didn't have the money or I'd have jumped on it. Beach

  I haven't seen a model 71 for less than $1000 for a long time, unless, as Beachmaster puts it, it been mucked up. Looked in current classifieds and auctions.Found 6 for sale ranging from 1195 to 2500 dollars. Indeed there is a deluxe (checkered), a standard rifle and a carbine (which brings a premium).The cheap one was a std rifle with pad added and some freckling on receiver. Of course it wasn't sold either. Pre-war and post-war dating seems to have some value as does factory sights. Extra holes (scopes) are a big downgrade.

  It is a a standard long barrel. It has a side mount scope some rust but very little.It has no checkering serial #38394
