Info. of Blue Jacket Revolver

I have an old Blue Jacket revolver and haven't been able to find any info on it. It is chrome or nickel finish, has a 2.5" barrel, 7 shot small caliber, On top it says Blue Jacket 1 1/2 Pat. May. 27 79 and looks like a serial # on the bottom of barrel. The grips have a dogs head on them both sides. Anyone know what this is or worth? Thanks

  "Blue Jacket" must have been a very popular name in the 19th Century. My reference says that (3) different manufactures of "Suicide Specials" used the name. (1) Crescent Arms Company. (2) Hopkins & Allen. (3) Iver Johnson.
  Both Hopkins & Allen, and Iver Johnson had grips with Dogs Heads on them. Bill Goforth will probably know who the manufacturer is.

  my references, only list the hopkins & allen company as the manufacturer. blue jacket is not one of the brand name single action spur trigger revolvers manufactured by johnson & bye or iver johnson's arms & cycle works.
  
  info for any one interested: the dog head grips use by iver johnson were only used on their double action american bulldog models and have never been seen on a single action spur trigger model.

  I paid $95.00 for mine at a gun show. Hopkins & Allen Blue Jacket # 2, patented March 1871. Works like it was made last week. I used CB caps to fire it, but I wouldn't use anything hotter than that. Antique guns like that used a black powder rimfire round, and should not be fired unless checked and cleared for safety by a competent gunsmith. I fired mine, and will probably do so again, but I've NEVER claimed to be normal...........[8D]
