I've never used a bore snake, just the rod with patches. I soak a patch in the Hoppes and run it through the bore. The a clean patch to clean it. I repeat this until the patches come out clean.

I put a drop of solvent on a toothbrush to clean the inside and rails of the frame and slide and then a clean cotton cloth to remove the solvent and burned powder.

After everything is clean a drop of oil on the rails and an oily patch down the bore. Before shooting again, run a clean patch to remove the oil.

I use a silicon cloth to wipe down the outside of the gun.

On my USP 40, I take the pistol apart and clean the barrel from the breach first with a brass brush soaked in No 9. I then dry it with a patch and lube the barrel with something like your Zero Friction. I clean the rails and breach face with an old tooth brush and Q tips. I lube everything lightly with a tooth brush with lube on it. I use the boresnake when I am doing a quick barrel cleaning. I generally put just lube on the loop at the end and sometims a little No 9 on the brush part.
