Look's like the 16 ga is makeing a come back.I have a mod 12 16ga
about 85% con blueing is very good stock the same. Has a 26inch bbl.marked cyl.Plain bbl.The stock has very slight pistol grip almost like an english stock.Serial number states it was made about 1949.Would like approxmate value of this gun. Thank's

I'm not a avid gun collector but I do like mod 12s. It seems that the 16ga is normaly the least expensive of the 12,16,20. Condition makes all the dif.in the world.If it is what I call 85% I would say $350 to $450. But let me say, I don't think for $400 you can by a better quality gun.

Hello Boltaction. A couple of things caught my eye, a 26 in. Imp/cly choke is a little rare, in that you don't see many for sale. If your gun was made in 1949, it should have what is known as the "Flat Bottom" forearm, does it? The butt stock you describe sounds like the first style Winchester used, which they stopped using about 1933/1934 time frame. Several things I look for in a Md 12, where is the barrel adjustment setting? If it's still on the first setting, this means the gun has not been abused, no heavy magnum shells, and kept clean, which keeps wear to a minimum. (I have some that are 80 years old and they have never been adjusted) Are there any marks on the receiver from the action slide protruding when reassembing the gun? Has it been reblued at one time? Assuming that you haven't made a mistake on the year it was manufactured, it sounds like the wrong butt stock, no adverse marks on the metal, your gun would go for $400.to $600 at auction.
