Stevens Mdl 311A 410 Doublebarrel

I walked into a small shop that has a Stevens model 311A 410 double.
It's in beautifull shape. The bores are spotless has all the case colors and what really struck me was the wood, it looks like it has real walnut for stocks instead of the painted looking wood they used in the later years.My question is does anyone know what time frame they produced the 311A? It has no serial number, so this means it was made prior to the 1968 gun control act. Price 350.00 Whoever owned it did not use this gun very much at all,if any. If the gun is in that good of cond, it should be worth what they are asking (based on other prices listed for them in gun list, shotgun news, etc) I can't give you history on them, but 410's doubles are scarce and usually bring a premium. I see them in G/VG cond for 300 all the time, so $350 for a Like New one seems pretty good to me. 0 -
I don't know the history of them either but the 410 311s have been selling for $500 to $600. That is crazy I know.

Last gun show I went to they were going for $600.00. I would buy it in a heartbeat for $350.00 0 -
311s were not serialized till the Gun Control Act of 1968! So your 311 predates that. The gun is a good buy at that price. The early guns with walnut are really worth $500. They usually weigh a shade under 6 pounds although I have an early 50's one that is 5 1/2, really sweet. 410s are always in demand. The early 20 guage 311s are nice too especially if it's bored IC/M I cut a 20 off at 24 inches and hardly ever miss with it under 30 yards. Buy the gun now at $350 - that's an order!!! Hickory 0 -

Stevens 311a shotguns made from 1949 to 1968 have a date code (letter-number)on the receiver telling year of manufacture.Most of the 311a's i have seen were made in the 1950's. 0 -
These guns also came with a "Plastic" stock and forearm. They appear to be very shiny wood, but just tap on them with your fingernail and it is obvious they are hollow. These guns are very mysterious as to what they will bring. Have an "early" one without serial number we had at the Ogden, Utah Gun Show this weekend. Gun is 95% and has the plastic stock and forearm. Priced at $250, had many lookers but no buyers. This is a 16 guage gun........and the price is about what the Blue Book of Gun Values says it should be. Don't know why it didn't find a new owner .. ..... ...!!!

RancheroPaul-This has always been kind of a mystery to me.For some reason the 311's with the plastic (tenite) stocks are not popular at all.The tenite can warp or crack,so this may be the reason.A 95% 16 ga. priced at 250. should have sold.Who knows?? 0 -
I thought the Stevens/Savage double with the plastic/tennite were different models than the 311. I have never seen a 311 with anything other than wood. Similiar but different.

The 5100 was also available in Tenite, looks a whole lot like a 311. The Model 24 was also available in Tenite, and I seem to recall seeing single shot shotguns in tenite too.
