sights for a springfield 1911
I want to put new sights on a springfield armory 1911, and I am looking at adjustable sights. Threr are several type in Brownell's, but I'm not sure witch one to get, because I don't want to mill the slide I just want to be able to bump them into the dovwtail. Any help would be a great help, Thanks Bubba @ Blackgun's.

I hope someone gives you some great advice because I have a SA 1911 that I am also looking at replacing the sights. I do not mind milling the slide as I prefer a lower profile. I have a PSI adjustable rear sight already, but not sure I want to use a target blade or go with a three dot set-up. I use this pistol only for action pistol shooting. I had Wilson three dot fixed sights put on my Colt 1911 several years ago and I don't like the higher profile (no work done to slide to install them). I'm also not sure I like the three dot system...
I would like some advice on just what brand sights and style (target, white dot, line, etc., everyone is using.

I believe Bomars or one of Wayne Novaks new adjustables might work for you but I am not sure if either would require any special mounting. Brownells would be able to answer the question--shoot them a query. They are very knowledgeable.

Both Pachmayr and Mec-Gar make adj. sights that use the existing rear dovetail cut and work with the factory front sight.

Looking at fourdees request for what others use for targeting, I like the three dot sight for it's ruggedness. There is a combat feel the the system. My PPK/S does not shoot straight with it's sights (I'm still looking for what Walther consider "target" in relation to sight placement) but I never shot better with my ten year Colt, even first time at 15 yards. My Buckmark has a rear adjustable sight, still plenty rugged, and with a bit of practice it works fine at 25 yards. I've even shot at 100 yards within a one foot radius with that little gun. And I'm no marksman.
