waterproof paper shotgun shells?

I just got a couple of boxes of these in 12gauge at an auction. No idea how old they are. One box is Federal #4's and one is Federal Monark 7 1/2's. All 2 3/4 in. Can I safely use these?

  I believe these may be just post WW2 and should be safe if the priming is still good.

  Fundaddy,
  If there in good shape,(box too)I would think
  they would be worth saving.Look closely at the
  bottom of the box.My box has the copyright date
  in FINE print.I had mine for ten years,thinking
  they were from the 50's before I looked on the
  bottom and found 1927.Now I'm a lot more carefull
  with'em.

  Just beware they are not scratched and can absorb moisture then.
  
  Only waterproof paper shells I've seen were laquered, if the laquer were damaged, they could absorb moisture and expand slightly, but enough to make them tough to chamber.
  
  They are probably worth a bit to collectors if they're old and in original boxes.
  
  
  Have some shells from "H?rens Krudtv?rk" in Denmark myself, they go for a few dollars each - to collectors. They're from around mid-late 60's. A whole box is the best offcourse. =o)
  
  I'd say save them - not many makes shells in paper anymore.
  Eley does.. I don't know who else.
  
  
  Don't do anything that I've allready done - That'd be just plain STOOOOOOPID.

  fundad-- I used to shoot a lot of Federal shells in the 60's.
  The lot number printed on the box flaps included the last two digits of the year of manufacture, reversed as I remember. These would be the first two digits of the lot number. I don't know if they still do that or not.
