I agree with CaptKirk in part but let me add my own eperience with NMLRA insurance being I am a Treasure of a BP club. We get ours from the NRA at a cheaper rate than the NMLRA which actually makes no sence! NMLRA is actually the second cheapest for us! The NMLRA I always thought was the BP aspect of the NRA but they are actually an enity to their own! The are affliated with NRA but they control what they charge, not the NRA. NRA insurance is cheaper for us. It also depends on what you are shooting and by that I mean if you are shooting any cannons or mortors then the insurance will be very much higher and NMLRA will be the cheapest. This is just what I have learned being the Treasurer of our BP club. Hope it helps. 0 -
You may also want to incorporate the club, if you haven't already done so, to create another vail of protection. In my state, liability can quickly reach individual members if the club is not a corporation.
Here is an example of a situation:
Say the unincorporated club has $1,000,000 in liability insurance. And some guy brings his family there, and say the worse thing happens: one of his kids gets accidentally killed. He sues the club for 5 million dollars and gets awarded 2 million. The insurance pays 1 million dollars. The club sells the range and other assets and raises $100,000. Guess where the other $900,000 comes from? That's right: the individual club members...equally. If there are 50 members, each is liable for $18,000.

Thanks for the imput. You have all been very helpful. We just had an insurance company that went bankrupt and the old treasurer and sec. said that we had to pay NRA dues as well and the insurance for the belly up company. that did not make too much sence as all are members of the NRA anyway.
If you can shed anymore light on which way to go and channels to get there and the best possible route of insurance all would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Rafter...thanks for the 2 cents. It makes a lot of good sence (cents)0 -
