I would think he would have to push the rear one forward to set the front one. The front one will then be set very light(hair trigger).

The older one in 1000 models of the 1873 and maybe of some other models were fitted with DST. These guns were specially selected because of their very accurate barrels. My guess is that this 94 is also a 1 in 1000 but it may just have been a special order. Whatever the history, I'd grab it if I could.

Willys, to work the double set trigger on your friends 1894 Winchester you need to push the rear trigger forward until it clicks. Then your front trigger is ready to fire. I have not seen the 1873 Wichester 1 of 1000, but a lot of the 1873s have single set triggers that are pushed forward until it clicks and then its ready to fire. To determine the value of your friends gun we need a lot more info. Is it all original? Rifle, short rifle, saddle ring carbine, eastern carbine or trappers carbine? Any other factory options besides the barrel and trigger? Date of manufacture or serial number. Does it letter?
