Travel w/ Pre-1899
Are there any restrictions traveling from state to state with these antiques? I would like to show my new purchases to friends in NE when I visit in a month.
Thanks,

Don't bring them through NY if they accept ammunition that is available. NY considers them the same as modern and it is a felony to possess without a permit here.

Thanks for the input guys. This is crazy. These things are 125 years old, some not in operating condition, and all pose a greater risk to the shooter than the target! I think I'll just put them in a box and send the USPS to my friend and then back to me. What this country needs is a few more laws!

Woods...So if you are moving and need to go thru N.Y.and your firearms are in the vehicle, locked in hardcases etc.You could face arrestt?????[?] 0 -
As far as I know.
If the guns are outside the passenger compartment and in locked cases, federal law would protect you. As far as the state of NY is concerned if the ammunition isn't absolutely unobtainable through normal sources, it's a usable gun, and as such is considered modern.
