Which 22LR?
I have a number of 22LR semi-autos and experience jams, stovepipes, failure to feed, etc. I've been using Thunderbolt and a friend said try a hotter round. Any particular brands that I should try? Would welcome all ideas.
Failure to feed could be the magazine, I realize, so I'll try different ammo with the mags and switch them to see if it is the mag.

thunderbolts have poor quality control. no 2 ever fire or extract the same in my hi stds. sounds like your mag needs to be pinched up front. the ear arent holding it long enough before it feeds. try squeezing the ears in a little. 0 -

On a quality scale, Thunderbolt ammo is near the bottom...I'd try some better quality ammo....Eley Tennex is at the other end of the scale, although it's a little pricey for plinking, the quality and consistency is unmatched. PMC Zapper and CCI make some better quality ammo. 0 -
On one of my guns - a 10/22, it'll ONLY feed ammo with a wax-coating like the thunderbolts or cyclones. However, they are cheap in all senses of the word. Rather than trying higher velocity, try other types, copper bullets, non-coated lead bullets, etc. If that still doesn't do it, then try the hyper-velocity stuff. That'll save some unneeded stress to your firearm. 0 -
try out CCI GREENTAG. its match accuratte, and works well in semiautos. most copperjacketed hi-speed / high velocity rounds wil cycle correctly in semi`s. best regards, mike.

I've had best results in my Marlins and 10/22's with Remington Golden Bullet HP's, the cycle/feed well and are pretty accurate.

Hairy, unless shooting competition where you need one holers, try Remington or Winchester standard velocity long rifle ammunition. Will cycle the guns just fine (if clean and in good working order) and be more accurate to boot. Jim 0 -
Three easy things to check: 1.Try a new magazine. 2. Clean the chamber occasionaly. Bullet lubricant and/or wax build up can effect function. 3.Do not over oil the slide to reciever interface. Best to run 22cal semiautos almost dry............Hondo 0 -
Been using the Remington Golden lately in everything, including full auto, in UZI SMG 22lr conversion.
Don't know why, but they seem to function very well in many different models of semi-auto.0 -
