Surprise, surprise
My father recently went to a nursing home so I had to clean out his workshop. Well I found a box with three carefully wrapped pistols. A Mauser-Werke A.G OBERNDORF A.N. 7,65 D.R. P.u.A.P., Smith and Wesson(small gun just said USA RAT'D and many dates) and Colt Woodsman Automatic Cal 22 Long Rifle. Don't know too much about what approximately they are worth so where do I begin? Not a collector(fired a gun once with my dad about thirty years ago) but would like to get at least close to a fair price. Is there some price range for pistols like these? Any help would be appreciated.

My DAD didnt care much for guns(shot his thumb off with shootgun when he was a kid)but bought me a 12 gauge JC HIGGINS pump when I was 18.
This is THE gun I value most !

Ask your Dad how he came by them, it is possoble that the mauser is a war bring back. Personally I would not want to sell anything that belonged to my Dad. Keep them, cherish them and pass them on to the next generation.

In the case of the ones you cannot identify to model, it is impossible for anyone to give you a ballpark value. If you can post photos here, someone will surely be able to id the model. All of the value depends upon demand, and demand is mostly for guns of the highest quality or condition. Not all old guns are valuable, but some are and the value goes up with better condition. The Colt Woodsman certainly has some collector value, even in good (as opposed to excellent, like new or very good) condition. The Smith may have some value, but again it depends upon model and condition. If you post photos models can be identified and approximate values can be determined. You may want to have them appraised by someone who is expert. Then, don't sell to that expert.

just to ballpark you, there seems to be at least a minimum of 500.00 worth of guns. condition is key. rust, holes, cracks, finish, all play important roles in value. welcome to the boards. btw...im home taking care of my dad. nursing homes wont take him because he's violent with dementia. i know how you feel going threw cleaning out 'dads stuff.' im doing it now. one year into cleaning and working every day, i'm not even 1/2 way finished. most times 50% is junk and old worn out tools, but sometimes you hit a treasure. it seems you did. ask the family for info. youd be surprised how gun stories float around the family. find out about them before letting them go. 1/2 the value of ANY gun is the story that goes with it! my blessings go to you and your family. warm regards, bob.......
