Reoaling 38 S & W

[?] I would like to use 200 grn lead bulletd and 158 grn jacketed bullets in my Enfield #2 mk 1 revolver.
However I cannot find and reloading information except for "Pet Loads" which was published in 1979![:0]
This is supposed to be a strong action and the brits used both loads in their time!! Surely there are some loads out there?

  Gibbs505, welcome to the zoo! That's a mighty nice caliber, BTW, you've taken for your user name.
  
  Check out the Lyman Pistol or Metallic cartridge manuals - they will have loads for the .38 S&W, especially the 200gr lead. Note that the .38 S&W / Webley round takes a slightly larger bullet than the standard .38 Spl / .357 Mag, so I don't know what sort of accuracy you would have with those 158gr projectiles which are .357" - .358" . . . if you don't want to invest in one of these manuals, I'll try to scan some loads for you if you contact me at tcg25@hotmail.com. I do not provide any loads other than scans of published data - in a gesture of graditude to the tort lawyers.

  Thanks for the reply. I don't have any of the Lyman manuels. If you can scan me those loads, it would be appreciated.
  Yes the Gibbs 505 is a fine gun, not to bad on the shoulder either, but mine weighs about 12 lbs! Is that to heay for a whitetail rifle?

  I have good luck using the 148 gr .358" diameter hollow based wadcutter lead bullets in 38 S&W. I load 2.7 gr of Bullseye with the bullet seated about 2/3 of the way into the case. The hollow base allows the bullet to expand to fit the barrel. I have a bullet mold that casts a .360" round ball. I have loaded those with 3 gr of Bullseye and crimped in the middle of the bullet. I have loaded regular .358" diameter bullets, but they are not as accurate. I have not found a source for the correct .360" diameter bullets.

  FYI....the British Military Load for the .38 S&W used a 200 gr. lead bullet and was known as the 380/200. It may be listed under that.
  
  The Muzzle Velocity for the Military Load is listed at 630 fps and the Muzzle Energy is 176 ft/lbs.
