SER# 392630
all parts / numbers matching including magazine.
on slide (lefthand side, forward) "Patr 08" marking most often found on NAZI issue model B`s signifying chambering in germans standard "Cartridge 08", ie. 9mm parabellum.
on frame (fore-strap) "LPN" signifying LANDES POLIZEI NEIDERSACHSEN, the post WWII german police organization.
on barrel (visible through slide cutout) "Cal. 08" see above.
the gun is in NRA VERY GOOD condition.
the gun has NO NAZI, or other military acceptance proofmarks.
i think that (research indicates) this gun was one of a lot ordered for the german military, but never delivered or accepted/proofed. the order (paid for) was delivered after WWII to the US aproved german police.
what is it worth??? are these markings common, or rare??? is it of intrest to collectors??? anybody seen similar markings??? any info or opinions??? best regards, mike.

There doesn't seem to be much collector interest in non-Waffenamt Star B's. A few years back (the story goes), one of the large importers offered some Waffenamt marked B's that were outside the serial range. These were/are thought to be fakes stamped for the collector trade.
These are decent shooting weapons. Value them on that merit alone and you will do fine.

Look at the current SOG flyer. $270.00 plus ten for handpicked.
Import marked ofcourse. Same pistol? SOG No#SHG-STARBWAF.
Advertised w/2 mags and holster. Advertised as Nazi Star B 9mm with
nazi ordance inspector stamp. Perhaps this was as suggested a non delivered pistol as SOG's are Waffenamted.0 -
a customer at the shop had a chance to buy this piece from a private party, and i recomended he jump at the chance. i own a MODEL A SUPER, and my father owns a MODEL B. i think that the STAR pistol (A, A SUPER, B, B SUPER) is one of the top 20 combat handguns of all time (pre 1950).
i have handled an SOG NAZI/WAFFEN stamped MODEL B, and i am not sure of the provanance/history. i had heard the rumor that placed the serial numbers of this run to 1949, wich would make the markings bogus. i do not have personal proof of that rumor, though.
it certainly makes for an interesting history/story on the gun. i cannot ascertain from my reading/research wether the markings add to the value or not. best regards, mike.
