M-14 SELECTOR SWITCH
Who is it that makes an un-operable Selector Switch that fills in the space in the M-14 Stock for use on M1As?

Fred's used to offer these switches and they looked so real that you be hard pressed not to believe that you were looking at an actual M14 Service Rifle. I have no idea if these are still available but you can call 336-879-2144 and ask. You might also visit his web site at www.fredsm14stocks.com and see if there is any information on his web page.

why would you want just a selector switch? are you a class 3 dealer? otherwise, it serves no purpose unless you have the groove in the receiver in which case it would mean you are in possession of a real M-14, not an M-1A. follow me?

Well, it wasn't clear what he is looking for. I assumed that what he really wanted was a filler strip to glue in the stock cut-out.

Neal, while there are a number of companies selling the selector shaft fillers, Freds had a filler with a fake selector switch attached that looked so real you would swear that you were looking at the same M14 Service Rifle that you took basic training with way back when. If everyone on GB were as polite as you it would be a better place for all of us!

if anyone mistaken me to be rude, i apologize . i wasnt. i assumed that if he wanted an un-operable selector switch, un-operable, meant it was a real switch that just did nothing. im sure the majority understand my point of interpretation. in which case....a real un-operable selector switch would have to have something to mount to....which lead me to believe that 'how could an un-operable selector switch attach to nothing,' since it must be passed thru a guide leg welded to the bottom of the receiver. thats all. since the gaggle is more up on 'real' un-operable switches, which i didnt know existed, and since my expertise is on real parts for real guns, i withdraw from the questioning. all i was trying to do was lead our poster into an understanding that if he didnt have a groove on the side of his receiver with the selector operating rod, he'd be wasting his time because it still wouldnt pass for the real mcoy.

My expertise also runs to real firearms and real parts, but that does not mean that the "gaggel" (which means that we are all just a group of geese) cannot have a base of knowledge so broad that it covers aftermarket parts and accessories. Although there are many highly technical questions answered in the forum each week, many of our members are far more interested in "look a like" parts for their military style firearms. Very few can afford the $6,000+ cost of an amnesty registerd M14 Service Rifle. A few bucks spent on a fake selector for his M1A is all that pack rat needed to make his own rifle look the way he wanted it to.

Pack Rat..... If you cant find any, let me know.. At one of the gun shows we have in the fall, a dealer has had a pot full of them for years. I dont think it's a big seller, and If I remember right they were $5.00 each.[:)]

i agree. thus my apology. im not just a gun expert like you and the rest, i also know how to plant tomatoes! so you are right. we can discuss parts and accessories and dress up parts too. all of our lives are filled with vast insight to many things, and we are entitled to anything we want. thus this is what makes the usa so wonderful. wanna talk about fake parts? ok! im not knocking it. i was honsetly trying to help. and i was going to steer him to class 3 dealers who im sure have some kind of insight to them. i mean, i came away educated...i never dreamed someone would market fake parts some day. we'll leave it at that. btw...gaggle: a group talking in public. i/e: in a meeting hall befoe a town meeting, to a point where all the individual sounds become one,(like the sound of geese,) i/e: like on a discussion board. its a compliment. its been a pleasure folks, but i have to get on to this 16 gauge remington 1100 skeet bbl mystery, and then go pick some cucumbers. peace! 0
