i have an old navy colt, which was given to me as an enheirtence gift, it is marked colt patten above triggr guard,it is a cap and ball type, walnut handles, matching numbers on stock, trigger guard and barrel and cylinder-174521- on cylinder there is light imprint of two circles or wheels [hard to see] and the letters-?SPATNT?? then below this is serial number , all 5 nipples are missing but all actions work, it has octagon barrel, and kind of square brass trigger guard, with the letter M next to wooden grips. i can get photos if needed. thanks

  Welcome to the forum.
  
  Hard to identify with your limited description.
  Is there a loading lever under the barrel? What is the caliber? I'm thinking, because of your description, it is a five shot. If it is a 1849 Colt Pocket, it would probably have a stagecoach hold up scene roll engraved on the cylinder. I am far from a Colt expert, but I'm sure that others will respond to your post with better insight than I.

  thankyou taperlok--yes there is a loading lever under barrel . length of barrel 6 and 3/4 inches
