I just won a rifle in a caliber I've never heard of, .35 Whelen??? A Ruger 77 Mk II. Guessing by the other Mk II's on the auction, this is worth around $400?? But where the heck will I find ammo for it?

    Remember Ruby Ridge.

It will hurt you, More than it will hurt me..

Most likely, the 7.62x39mm on SKS strippers is the steel core ammo that BATF ruled as armor piercing a few years ago. Some people will pay a premium for this ammo. Why? Because the govt tells them they shold not have it. It is illegal for FFL holders to transfer (sell) AP ammo to the public. I do not think there is any Federal law against possession. Also, I'm not sure if there is a penalty for a non FFL to sell it. The penalty listed in the law is FFL suspension.
BTW, this ammo is corrosive. At least mine is.

Southern Ohio Gun has Russian 7.62X39 non corrosive (#AMO76239G) in 500 round cans for $42.25. You could add a few bucks for the value of the 55 stripper clips.

Shipping could add quite a bit to all prices quoted. So, I wouldn't be too quick to say that it's worth less than 10c a round.
