Nagant revolver
Do any of you guys own one of these M1895 Nagant revolvers? I see them being sold at gun shows and on here for around $150. They look like a fun informal plinker/fun gun. I'm not expecting a tack driver-just something reliable and not too $$$$$ on the ammo.

I just got one of these, I got the spare .32ACP cylinder too.

Look at this listing, it states that you can shoot .32ACP with the 7.62x38R (Nagant) cylinder.
My questions is CAN YOU?0 -
YOU ONLY CAN FIRE 7.62 NAGANT AMMO IN THE ORIGINAL CYLINDER, I HAVE SEEN .32 ACP CYLINDERS ADVERTISED. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS .32 COLT OR .32/20 OR .32 S&W 0 -
You can shoot 32 S&W longs in the original cylinder. I have done so with no problems at all. 0 -
I have also shot the 32LC with no problems but they do swell the cases a bit.There was a member here who said he shot 32-20 in his but I have not tried that yet because I keep forgetting to buy them. I also have the 32ACP cylinder.
FYI, I got my SOG flyer today and they have them listed for $82.86 if you have a C&R!! Tom
PS, I have also heard of a 7.62x25 cylinder buy have also heard that it is dangerous to shoot because of much higher pressure. T

Lee makes a set of reloading dies using the 32-20 brass; I have a set but haven't gotten to loading any yet. Emery

I will be ordering one soon. My wife is weakening. She will let me have the Nagant, grudgenly. She will not let me have the Nagant and the CZ-52. I would not use the 7.62x25 in the Nagant. Thanks for your help. 0 -
Here's the skinny:
You can fire .32 S&W Long and .32 H&R Mag. in the revolver, with no ill effects. Ballistically, the H&R Mags. are the closest, Longs are weaker. The original Nagant ammo was essentially a WC round, but LRN or SWC works fine. A conversion exists, available from FAC, and likely other places as well, to make it possible to shoot .32 ACP. My question is "why?". Weaker round, not much cheaper, and fitting of the conversion does not always go smoothly. Plus, shelling out $40+ to modify a $90 gun that works fine as is seems a bit extreme. I know, some people are just tinkerers by nature and can't help themselves, but I'm not one of them. (K.I.S.S. and all). Other than that, great gun (for a 100 year old smallbore revlover), excellent finish, and the ones coming over seem to me to be in very good shape.

With the Lee dies mentioned in an earlier response the Nagant is a piece of cake to load using 32-20 brass. The round is short to the original but works great. Use 32 caliber pistol bullets. Starline brass is the easiest to work with as other brands have a thicker rim which sometimes binds the cylinder. Load data can be found in Cartridge Conversions. 0
