Springfield 1911 blk stainless w/adj. nt sites

What is your opinion of the Springfield 1911 blk stainless w/adj. nt sites. Is this a combat weapon? I have chosen to lookat purchasing one. My concern is that it may not be a combat weapon. What is your opinion?

  Since no one has an opinion, I'll have a crack at it. I would call adjustable sights target sights in many instances. A rear sight one can only adjust for windage (I can't imagine adjusting this in combat conditions) makes the piece rugged if hit or bumped or whatever. I have had three handguns with this type of sight. My third is a Colt which is remarkably accurate, and was designed as a combat weapon (didn't take off; i think the Beretta 92 was picked instead). On the Springfield, I might buy the Mil-spec Stainless. I like the smoothed backstrap. Some adjustable sights, on the other hand, are designed with inherent durability. You'll have to take a good look at the firearm and decide if the sights will get misalligned if you wack it into a doorjam running for your life. In close quarters combat, you'll be shooting within feet anyway- won't have time to don the ear protection.
