NICKLE PLATED COLT WOODSMAN
Any info on this piece wood be grateful. I hear that there is only one made . I have a chance to obtain it.

I have never seen a finish on a "Woodsman" or that type of pistol in anything but Blue. However, there are many with the dual tone finish which incorporates shiny blue sides on the slide with black almost parkerized top, etc. which makes an interesting gun. I searched my data base for finishes on these and found there were a very few with gold plated slides, a very few entirely gold plated, and a few furnished in "soft" for possible engraving and someone's own finish. There is absolutely no mention I can find about a nickel plated gun in this model
Because I do not have the last and final word on this, (Colt should), if I were to be considering such a gun and the related cash outlay for such a purported gun, I would do my homework very well! If it took "paying" the Historical Department of Colt to verify such a gun, I would do it! I am very skeptical of such a gun at this point after the research I just completed. Doesn't mean there isn't one.....just probably not a "Factory Finish" if there is. But, that is not final either as I am not the Colt Factory......but I sure would consult with them on this! I had a relative that had a Match Target 4" barrel, nickel finish, in the late 50's. We shot it often when I visited. I always assumed that they bought it new. 0
