7mm TCU?

Whats the story with this round? I recently came arcoss it and don't know anything about it. What's this caliber good for, what weapons, etc??? Thanks.

  the 7 tcu was originally developed for the thompson contender. it is mainly used in shiliotte shooting( i didn't spell that right i know). it is the 223 remington necked up to 7mm. there is a whole family of tcu's 6mm,.25cal, 6.5mm, and 7mm. alot of people have found this case ideal for deer hunting in a contender as well

  saxonpig wouldn't the case necks split if you fired 223 in a 7 tcu. i know they would chamber and fire if just never occured to me that the case would fireform .05 safely.

  TCU stands for Thompson Center/Ugaldi. Wes Ugaldi designed the TCU series of cartridges for TC to use in the Contenders for Silhouette competition.
