Crossfire MK-1
I was reading old posts (last July, I think) and the age old question was asked,"If you were to have to leave and only take 2 weapons"... I just purchased a Crossfire MK-1. Took it to the range yesterday and what a fun gun to shoot! My question is, Why such a variance in prices? I see them as high as $2,000, and used for a $1,000 or more? I got mine for $599.95.

They usually are selling for around $900 but you can get new ones from CDNN Investments for $699[:D]

I'm not trying to start any name/gun slamming, but the reason why they have become so inexpensive is because they have had problems with them. It took the company years before they finally released the gun and after it was released the price started out high, but kept going down and down until they were discontinued. Most of the distributors I talked with had a lot of returns and unhappy customers.
I, myself thought they were a neat idea going clear back to when they were going to be a double box fed .308/12ga semi-auto. That is what they started out to make and later went to the .223 and a pump action box mag and tube fed design. They first started this project way before the 1994 Crime Bill. It took them all these years to finally come out with it and it still had problems.
If they actually worked well, I'd probably own one, but with all of the problems they have had, I've chosen to pass. Their wholesale cost has dropped by half since their release. If they had sold well and/or had a good track record, they would still be bringing good money today. They are cheap now (if you can call $700 wholesale cheap), because they have to be to sell. Unlike when Davisons sold them, you got a life time warranty from them. From CDNN you get the gun, but nothing to back it up.
Again, I'm not trying to start any fights about the gun. For those of you that have them and they work, great. I'm just cautioning Wildroamer that even at $700, they may not be the best investment. They may be a collectable some day though, since they aren't being made anymore from what I've been told by the suppliers. Just felt the need to mention the above to one of our new arrivals. We are here to help.
