Has anybody shot the H&R buffalo classic rifle in 45-70 cal.this gun is 46" long & has a 32" long barrel.A very nice looking rifle. I was wondering how accurate this gun would be. It has a williams peep sight along with a lyman hooded front sight with 8 aperture inserts you can use, there is something about a single shot that I just love.Would appreciate any input info. anybody would care to share.I was thinking of getting one for Deer-hunting what-do-you-think? Thanks.. Dano.. 0 -
There are a BUNCH of different Savage 99's listed in the books. I see some key differences in a few models:
99a, 99c, 99cd, 99de, 99dl, 99f, and 99pe have top tang safety, the other 99's have slide safety on the right side of trigger guard. Also, models 99c and 99cd have detachable box mag instead of rotary mag. The .243 chambering appears to start in 1960 and goes until 1989.
The values vary greatly, from $275 for the 99E carbine to $1425 for the 99PE presentation grade. Give us a little more info if you can and that might help some.
