removing nickle plating

Can one remove nickle plating from an old gun, and if so can it be blued again? Thanks Pajtas

  By electrolysis at a metal shop that does plating. Not really complicated.
  
  The metal will then be ready for whatever finish you wish to apply, be it blue or case colors.

  Brownell's sells a nickel removing kit for about $40 that works well. You get enough to remove nickel plate from a lot of pistols. It is two chemicals you mix with water and put the de-greased gun parts in. Takes from a few hours to couple days depending on how thick the nickel plate is, temperature, etc. Won't work at all on chrome. Removal leaves the metal bare and you can plate it again or blue, brown or whatever. Hope this helps.
