before I buy what are the experts comments on the Taurus 92
my cost out the door on the blue 92 321.37

  358, I believe the 92 has a three position safety that may take some getting used to. Up is safe, Middle is fire and down is the hammer drop feature. You can carry it cocked and locked but in a high stress situation you may run the safety all the way down and decock it. As long as you are aware of that, you could adapt to it. I have shot one and the only other thing I have against it is it is very large for a 9mm. The same as the Beretta. If you get the PT 100 in 40 s&w it would be better, IMHO, John

  I have a model 99 which is the same as the 92, but with adjustable sights that I bought used about 6 years ago. I have put about 10,000 rounds thru it with the only problem being a broken rear sight. Taurus replaced the sight and returned it to me within 7 days. I use it for IPSC and IDPA competition. I like the fact that I can carry it cocked and locked the same as my 1911 pistols. I replaced the barrel with a Beretta barrel which will drop in to the Taurus. It is a little more accurate than the factory barrel.

  I've got a Taurus 92 that I bought new in 99. Shoots great, I've never had any problems with it. It's stainless so I don't know if the finish will wear off some on the black or not. Were issued Sig P229s at work, they're 10 yrs. old, the black has held up on them surprisingly well and we shoot them all the time at the range.

  I bought a 92 with the bright stainless finish in 1996, and have never had any problems with it. You can still find high cap. mags for it too

  I got a used one for my wife to qualify for concealed carry. Been a great pistol. It has had the heck shot out of it. One of my favorites. Accurate, dependable, fits hand great, holds lots of bullets, Taurus sent me a free replacement part when needed.

  Ive got a pt-92 also. I can honestly say i think it would be pretty difficult to decock the gun accidently, since the lever must travel a ways and it takes a fair amount of pressure (on mine anyways). I like it as much as my beretta (more actually becuase it cost me less) and i would say the two guns are pretty much equals in terms of performance. Good luck!
