Does anyone know about when or at what ser. number (or how to tell by looking at your gun) when springfield started makijg 1911's in Brazil? And are they still being made there today?

    Thanks

I'm not familiar with this particular gun, but if it's patterned like most 1911's, you should be able to get a Novak to replace the stock sight.

You may do either one. I have a 5" Springfield stainless 1911 with adjusable sights. I shoot it with the slide and barrel from my Kimber CDP-Pro. This slide is 4" with low profile night sights. Changing the slide can be a hit or miss proposition. When you buy another slide it may not work properly without being fitted to your frame. In my case it worked fine without modifying anything. I have a lot of 1911 style pistols and I like to swap parts from one to another. I have been working with 1911 pistols for 40 years and I don't recommend this to people who are not familiar with what to look for when trying this.
