k98 mauser nosecap r they all the same?
i have a 1934 german mauser k98...100% original...bring back from ww2 by my father...it had a front sight nose cap at one time but i cannot locate it..as things were shifted around from location to location for awile..the question i have is..can i use pretty much any 98 model year nose cap ir do i have to find an exact match? i bought one from a gun show a few years ago but it dosent fit like very good ,,im unsure if the cap was german or some other manufacturer..any tips would help in finding a nice replacement would be greatly appreciated..thanks!

Don't mean to discourage you from posting here, but there are at least (2) forums that specialize in matters pertaining to the K 98. If things don't work out here, try them.

A front sight nose cap? This could be a muzzle cover, a sight hood (not used in 1934), or possibly a bayonet lug? In any event, find someone at a gunshow that knows (not deals) Mausers that is willing to help you. Most of the Mauser parts do interchange, but for that ORIGINAL rifle part that you want, you will need to find a Weimar marked part. 0 -
