Cartidge collectors, a question

Howdy folks,

Just a short question for cartridge collectors or anyone else who might know.........

While sorting cases with my son to load, I came across a single
30-30 case bearing a S+W headstamp. Must have been a range pick up.

I didn't know S+W made rifle ammunition.

Any info?

  There was a time, circa 1970s, when S&W was marketing ammo under their name. Centerfire handgun & rifle, .22 LR and shotgun shells. Alcan did their shotshells; I'm not sure who made the metallics. The ammo, especially the rifle ammo, is somewhat scarce. The first offerings were in white boxes with blue lettering, the later (and more common) packaging used the reverse color scheme.
